Advice Your Mom SHOULD Have Given You

There comes a time in every mom’s life when you say to yourself, “Why didn’t my mom ever tell me these things?” What’s some of the top advice your mom should have given you? Here’s my list:
  1. Your child may be a picky eater, but they will eat anything from the floor or that comes from a trashcan.
  2. When your child uses the “F” word and uses in in context, don’t laugh.
  3. Move your “fun times” stuff somewhere they can't reach it, or preferably a locked box. They will find it and either model it for you or play with it. Again, don’t laugh.
  4. Even though you said you would NEVER yell at your child, you will.
  5. Baby wipes are for more than butts; keep them everywhere!
  6. Buy more diapers than you think you’ll need, eventually you will run out and freak out; if any are leftover when he outgrows them, give to charity or another family.
  7. Trial-by-fire is great, but Google is better.
  8. You will never eat by yourself again; there will always be some little person's germy fingers in your plate. Watch out and don’t stick them with your fork.
  9. All diapers leak.
  10. The weight on the box of diapers is NOT how much they will hold.
  11. You do not have to have your kid potty trained by the time they are two years old. Stop stressing out about it!
  12. Stop trying to keep up with the other mom’s in your playgroup, they are not June Cleaver and neither are you.
  13. Your kids are more important than a clean house.
  14. You will talk about the kids during date night.
  15. It's okay to talk about your parenting failures as well as the triumphs.
What advice do you wish you had been given?

Boudreaux's Butt Paste Review 2.0 and GIVEAWAY!

I'm so excited to do my first giveaway on my blog and so honored it's for one of my favorite products!

A few months ago when I started blogging, I told you all about a product called Boudreaux's Butt Paste and how it changed the way we do diapering in our house. Well guess what? They saw the post and asked me to do an official review (and get this!) my first GIVEAWAY!

In addition to Boudreaux's Original and All Natural Butt Paste Diaper Rash Ointment, they now offer a new Maximum Strength version for extreme diaper rash. It has the same great scent as the Original and All Natural, as well as wiping off just as easily during diaper changes. With 40% Zinc Oxide, it's the strongest protection you can get from a diaper rash cream in my opinion.
Another new product they offer is the new Boudreaux's Rash Protector. It's a spray with "bag-in-can technology" that even allows you to spray upside down! It's not just a great product to seal and protect a baby's bottom from wetness, but I bet it would be a great product for anyone who works outdoors or for sports enthusiasts to to help prevent chafing.
We've used both of these products on Caleb in the few days, and the results have been fantastic! Caleb, who rarely gets a diaper rash, has had a slight case that just wouldn't go away on it's own. The stress of the move is what I think caused his little "issue" with his bottom, but as soon as we started using the New Boudreaux's Maximum Strength diaper cream with the New Boudreaux's Rash Protector, he's been a much happier Boogie!

Want a chance to win the same products I was sent for review? I get to offer one lucky winner a chance to receive the full line (YES THE FULL LINE!) of Boudreux's Butt Paste Products by Blairex.

Huggies Little Movers Slip-On Diapers

I'm sure by now that every mommy out there has seen the commercials for the new Huggies Little Movers Slip-On Diapers. They are designed with the squirmy baby in mind, to be easily slipped on as the baby flips and turns to get away from his diaper change.

I recently bought Jumbo sized pack of these at my local Target; they had a great sale and I combined it with a coupon I had for $3.00 off making them only about $4.00 out of pocket.
Instead of trying them out right away, I waited until we had used up the currently open pack of diapers, about a week later.

The first thing I noticed when I opened up the package of the Slip-On diapers, was the size difference between the new diapers and the current ones that we use, the Huggies Snug & Dry. I double checked the size requirements on both packages, and they were the same weight limits on both. Against my better judgement, I gave it a go anyway.

The first diaper was unsuccessful. Yes, it was easy to put on, but I noticed that you could see the top of Caleb's little bottom peeking up above the back of the diaper (plumber's would have been envious) but I let it go anyway. Bad mistake!

A messy diaper AND clothing change later, I thought that maybe I just hadn't pulled them up all the way and that's why everything came up the back and all over his clothes and changing blanket. So I decided to give it another go, giving the diaper the benefit of the doubt.
Yet another clothing change later, I decided that I would not be using these diapers again and needed to write to Huggies to tell them about what I considered to be a majr design flaw. Instead of just throwing them out or giving them to a neighbor (we just moved last weekend and I don't know them yet!) I listed them for sale on a local online "yard sale" group I participate in on Facebook, and I was able to sell the opened package for $3.00 to another family that could use them. (More on that group later!)
I sent off my complaint to Huggies through their contact form on their website, and they quickly responded back to me in a personal e-mail, saying we they were sorry that this wasn't a good product for our family and that they would be sending me some coupons for the inconvenience.

Well, guess what I got a few days later!

I'll still keep using Huggies diapers for Caleb, they've worked for both of my boys over the last five years. Thank you Huggies and Kimberly Clark for great customer service; we'll definitely be using these!

What The Heck Is Butt Paste?

When Logan was born, he came out healthy and happy, with all ten fingers and toes, and one other thing; persistent and painful diaper rash.

His pediatrician diagnosed him as having eczema and recommended a prescription ointment to coat the infected skin and then suggested using a thick layer of diaper rash cream to go over that.

But getting it off during diaper changes was a lot like trying to scrape off spackle, and on his delicate bottom caused even more tears. And the smell… Ugh!

I remember the first time I saw Boudreaux’s Butt Paste on the shelf in the baby care aisle. By this time, we had been battling Logan’s skin issues for almost six months and I had used just about every diaper rash cream and homemade remedy for diaper rash I could think of. It would go away for a while, but come back quickly, sometimes more painful than before.

I figured I would give Boudreaux’s a shot; like I said I had tried everything else at this point.

I was amazed at the end results. Within twenty-four hours, the redness was gone, the tears had stopped and the skin was visibly beginning to heal. It was easy to apply and wipe off and it smelled great too!

We’ve kept this a staple in our house, even today. At the first sign of diaper rash, Boudreaux’s Butt Paste is my go-to product and I always recommend this first to all of my friends.

Every Super Mom needs this!
